6 weeks

So Max is six weeks old now. He is getting so big! He is really starting to talk and laugh, not often but when he does it's great. On Monday we are going for our first trip to Ames. I feel really good about it. Max hasn't been spitting up very much and he really likes to sleep in the car. So my plan is to feed him a bunch and put on a clean outfit, and hopefully we won't have to stop more than once or twice. We are still going to leave early from here so we aren't late to the baby shower. I'm so excited! Max will get to meet everyone finally.

Love this Picture

So baby Max has figured out how to flip onto his tummy now. He sort of surprised himself by doing it quickly. His legs are very strong and he kicks alot. So when he gets his feet under him he can really push off!

Growing Up

Max is smiling now! Yesterday he had his first real smile and today after "tummy time" he was very playful and smiled again. It's so exciting to see him changing. He changes fast instead of slowly. He's learning in leaps instead of a slow climb of trys. Either he does or does not. He just stares at you like he is figuring it out before he attempts the task. In that way he is a lot like my brother. He looks abit like my brother too. It's nice to see some of my genes came through.

One Month

Maxwell is one month old today. It's hard to believe that it has already been a whole month since he was born. In some ways it seems much longer, since we have been talking to him and calling him Max when we saw that he was a boy on the first ultrasound. In other ways it seems like just yesterday we were in the hospital having him. He is starting to make cooing noises and I think I saw a few attempts at smiles. He has grown a inch more so he is 22 1/2 inches now. Max is holding his head up really well, and doesn't mind tummy time so much now. I can't wait to see what he does this next month.

Mother's Day

Me and Mommy

Happy Mother's Day! Max and I went to brunch at Daddy's work and everyone got to meet Max. This is a very happy day for me since I have been wanting to have a baby for a few years now. Max has been out for 3 weeks now but it seems like he has always been with us. It feels natural now to wake up and take care of him. I love being a mom and it's going to be hard to go back to work when my time on leave is up. At least Max has a wonderful Dad to take care of him while I'm gone to work. Jered is the best.

My Daddy and Me

So tomorrow is Mother's Day and the first one I get to celebrate fully. Jered is cooking brunch for everyone in Iowa City at Devotay. Max and I will be going down around noon to see him and eat a bit. I'm sure it will be crazy but oh well.

The weather is absolutely beautiful here in Iowa. Jered and I and Max are happily enjoying our porch. I took this picture today and it's my new favorite.

More Max

Max is getting so big so fast. I guess that is to be expected since all he does is eat and sleep. He is getting more aware these days. He was quiet and awake last night at 2 am. Looking around the room with big eyes. I wish I knew what he was thinking. I can't wait until he starts to talk.

The first post

Well I thought I should start blogging again. It's a nice way to stay in touch with people far away. Plus with the birth of our first child, there is a lot of people who want to see him and keep updated. So I will keep updating this site and changing it until it suits our needs.
