Post Christmas Post

Well I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, we had a great time with our families in Ames. The weather was not the best, but everyone made it safe and sound - even if their luggage didn't. It was great seeing everyone and the time seemed too short. I wish we could have stayed until New Years! Thanks to everyone for all their help and effort making every one's schedule mesh - I know that isn't easy! I hope we can do the same next year.

Here are some cute pictures of Max sledding for the first time. This was at my Mom and Dad's house.

Ice storm

It's not that bad to drive since the plows have been out all day- but when we went to get groceries the store was out of power due to ice on the lines. Most of Iowa City is out of power, but we are fine since our powerlines are buried out here. Sometimes I think we must be crazy to live here.

Getting ready for Christmas

Well today's the day we put up the Christmas tree at the Dieter house. Jered and I both had the day off, and it was about time to deck the halls so to speak. Max loved all the lights of course and was a very good helper. I just don't know if he can resist those presents.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. Jered, Max, and I ate (and cooked)dinner at the Pregitzer's this year. We went a little bit nontraditional with the food but it was a great success! The biggest hit was a chipolata gravy and smoked turkey. After the food settled we all went over to Grandma Jo's house a brought an apple pie to share. Clare and I helped put up the Christmas tree and this year Jo got a new prelit one so it was super quick. It was a great time together and really put you in the spirit. We are truly lucky to live near to our families and we can spend time with them on the holidays.

New Look

So I gave our site a new look for winter. Boy - it is cold outside! It was nice a few days ago and now it's 30 degrees! I'll be surprised if we don't have snow for my birthday. Well at least it is snowing on our website. Enjoy!

Halloween Night!

Max was spider-man for Halloween this year, though he was reluctant at first to wear his costume. Once he figured out that he got candy dressed this way- there was no problem. We went trick-or-treating with my friend Tracy's girls in their neighborhood. As you can see by the pictures he got an amazing haul! (bad for mommy and daddy!)

Happy Halloween!

On Saturday we had a little get together with the people from our neighborhood to celebrate the holiday season. Halloween is one of the best holidays in my opinion since you get to dress up and eat lots of candy. Here are some cute pictures of the festivities. Enjoy!

Max Cooking

Now don't get worried, it's just pretend. I made Max a little oven out of a cardboard box. He wanted a little oven so bad! You can tell he just loves to cook - like his dad.

Yesterday we went to the Tyrrell Museum which has one of the largest working labs in Canada. You can watch the people working on the bones and putting them together. They also have a huge collection of dinosaurs skeletons that were found right in the Drumheller valley.

The Star Mine Suspension Bridge

After the museum we all went to the suspenion bridge which was built in 1930 for coal miners. Alberta government now maintains the bridge and you can walk across - if you dare. Max ran across with no fear at all, of course. The tiny people on the bridge is Max and myself. Jered took this picture from the hill on the other side.

We went down to Lake Louise - very lovely section of the range. The water is clear and cold. We had gone there when we were kids - there were alot more people there then I remember. We also went up to the hotel and walked through the lobby and checked out the views.

Hello from Canada! We are on vacation in the Canadian Rockies. Yesterday we (Jered, Shauna, Damion, and Craig) climbed Mt Barrier. It has an elevation of 6500 ft above sea level. It was a "medium scramble" - aka sort of tough but so worth it. Here's some pictures just to rub it in - enjoy!

Terrible Twos

What a mess!

Witness the destructive power of one two year-old. Max managed to spread this crap from one end of the house to the other in about and hour. I put it altogether in one place so you can see just how powerful he is. Can you image what he could do in one whole day?

My Garden

My Garden
Originally uploaded by shaunadieter
I thought I would post a picture of my garden since it is in full bloom. I have nasturtiums in the front, the tall ones are sunflowers, and the little orange ones are marigolds, of course. The tall spindlely ones are cosmos.
