We had a family party for New Year's Eve. The kids helped me make hats and we had some party muchies and sparkling grape juice. The kids only made it to 10:30 and we decided to hit the hay after New York celebrated. Happy Year everyone!

Vistit to Santa
Max and Riley went to visit Santa yesterday and had a great picture taken. Riley wasn't scared and even told Santa about Angry Birds (translated by Max of course)

Dieter Christmas
Christmas came early this year (which the kids enjoyed completely). This weekend was the only time we could all get together so we went for it. :) I was super great seeing everyone and eating too many sweets.

Happy Birthday Riley!
Riley turns 2 years old! We had a Thomas the train party because Riley loves trains! He did very well and blew out his candle by himself. Riley loves balloons too so we had plenty of them. He is a fun, loving boy and we are super glad to celebrate his birthday with him.

Happy Halloween!
This year we went Trick or Treating in Cedar Rapids with the cousins...great houses up in that area. Max was Anakin (jedi) and Riley was R2D2 and I was Leia. Jered went as a cop - pretty convincing. We had a great time.

Cuboree 2011
Max and Jered went to the Iowa Cuboree on Saturday. They had a great time shooting slingshots, fishing, and marshmellow roasting.There was 500 people at the Cuboree and it was a great success.

Day out with Thomas
Riley ( and Max) went to see Thomas at the Boone valley RR. Riley loves Thomas and trains of any kind. He was super excited to see the real Thomas and ride on a train. The weather was nice - no rain and we had a great time.

Cubscouts First Outing
The boys went on their first "Go see it" today at Hickory Hill park. Everyone went on a hike and did a nature scavenger hunt. The weather was nice and cool and everyone had a good time!

Jonesy's Lunch
Mom and Dad came to IC for a "mini-vacation". We went to Jonesy's for HUGE pork tenderloins. They were soooo good. It gave us all energy for swiming later at the Hotel.

First day of First Grade
So today was Max's first day of school. His teacher this year is Ms. White and he has some of the same kids from last year and a few new ones. Shimek combines 1st and 2nd grade so he has "bigger" kids in his class which he thinks is neat. He is also going to join Cub Scouts too. It is going to be a busy year!

Dieter Family Reunion
Here is the photo of Grandma and Grandpa Dieter with the kids and grandkids and great-grandkids. It was super fun going and seeing everyone again. Riley only tried to drink from one flower vase and Max only cried twice. So all and all it was a good day!

Webster City Fair
This weekend the boys and I went to Webster City to see my aunt and uncle who were visiting from Texas. The cousins talked us into going the the fair before we headed home. Max had a great time on almost all the rides. Riley was too scared to try any of them. Maybe next year.
Scary Ride
Max really wanted to go on this ride so I let him. He quickly regreted his decision and was happy when it was over.

Happy Forth of July
This year we had a low key 4th. We went to Slater's fireworks the day before. On the forth we went to the Ames pancake breakfast and parade. It was super hot and the kids weren't that happy with waiting. At least there was some shade.

Superior Hiking Trail
This year for vacation we backpacked the Superior Hiking Trail in MN. The first day of hiking wasn't bad - it was just very muddy. The landscape is very beautiful and the weather was perfect.
Shauna on the Trail
This is the second day on the trail. We hiked to Split Rock and camped. Very hard climb up to our camp site. The next day we walked out to our Jeep, since the MN govt. closed all state parks. On the upside we missed getting pounded by a huge storm and the hotel was nice.

Summer is here!
Max is out of school and summer is on! We went downtown to farmers market and to play in the fountain. In the afternoon Max and I went to a birthday party at City Park. Max has a whole week off before he starts swimming lessons and tennis. Riley is finially big enough to join in this summer. He is having a great time following Max around.
