Dieter Family Christmas
We got together with the Dieter's for early Christmas. It was the usual weekend before and makes it easier for all of us to be there. It was great seeing everyone and the kids had a great time together. Thanks to everyone for the gifts and good company!

Riley's First Birthday!
Riley's first birthday party - and the theme is Rockets! I couldn't find a cake to order so I made the rocket cake myself using a football cake pan and a 9 inch round. Add some star shaped sugar cookies and you have a great cake!
The left over 9 inch round became a planet:
We also had some fun gift bags, Milky way candy, moon sand, and glow-in-the-dark stars and planets.
I created the Rocket center pieces from Microsoft clip art and foam board. The bottoms were from old center pieces re-purposed.

Happy Birthday Riley!
Today Riley is one! I can't believe it - the time has gone so fast. Riley is a happy, active one year old. He loves his blanket, and his brother. Riley has a cute sense of humor, he likes to trick you. He has a voice and likes to use it. He is a thinker and figures things out. He is my joy and we love him very much! Happy birthday!

Estes Park Colorado
After all the partying we decided to take it easy and do some sight-seeing. Here we are by the Stanley hotel sign. The mountains were beautiful and the weather couldn't have been better. Max and Jered climbed a rocky area that put them higher than the hotel roof line. Max and I went on the Stanley Hotel Ghost tour, which was an very interesting history of the hotel.

Halloween
Jered and I went to the Shinning Ball - costume ball at the Hotel. The place was decked out and the costumes were amazing.
First Halloween
This was Riley's first Halloween - and he was a Dragon. Max and Riley when Trick-or-Treating in Estes Park, and they had a blast. There was tons of people and the downtown area was closed off. They were handing out candy by the handful, carmel apples, doughnut holes, popcorn balls, and hot chocolate. Amazing! Max said it was the best Halloween ever.

Halloween Cookies
Since we are going to Estes Park, CO for my brother Damion's wedding, Max is missing out on his school Halloween party. So we made cookies for him to take to school. They tasted as good as they look.

Baby its cold outside..
So the weather has turned cold for now, which means Riley finally gets to wear the cute sweaters I found him! I don't know if it is because he is my last baby or because he is so darn cute - but I love dressing him up. Jered thinks I'm crazy...he is probably right. The pictures speak for themselves.

Almost 10 monthes
Riley is growing so fast! He is thoughtful and quiet, but happy. His daddy is the only one who can make him laugh all the time. He is walking everywhere and likes to eat new foods. Mostly he loves being with Max. Riley loves music and when Jered plays guitar for him. He thinks TV is weird. He really likes taggies and strings. Bathtime is his favorite and loves having his hair brushed. Riley likes to look at books and being read to. He is my little cuddler.

First day of Kindergarten
So today was the first day of school! Max rode the bus all by himself and thought it was cool. He had a busy day - PE in the morning, reading stories, and making patterns with colored blocks. He also had recess and ate his lunch in the gym. Jered and Riley had a very quiet day at home and were very happy to have Max home early, Thursdays are early dismissal at 2:00.

Shimek School
Last night we went to Shimek for their ice cream social. It was raining so they held it in the gym which was not really big enough so it was super cramped. We did get to meet his teacher briefly - and fill out some forms, of course. Unfortunately we did not get to see his class room since it was closed off, but we did get to drop off his school supplies. So tomorrow morning at 8:05 Max will be on a bus to school. Max is cool and doesn't think it's a big deal. I think it's a big deal.

Family Reunion
The boys and I headed to Vail Iowa for the Dieter family reunion. Where is Vail, Iowa you ask? Between Carroll and Denision of course...so in the middle of nowhere. But this weekend it was filled with Dieters! The boys and I had a wonderful time, Max loved playing with all the cousins. He didn't want to go home :(
