Easter Fun Day

First off I would like to make a point that this is NOT a cake blog...it may look like a cake blog, but I just love cake, make a lot of cake, and so it seems that way, but its not a cake blog. With that out of the way, this year I made a five-layer strawberry and lemonade cake with strawberry butter cream frosting for Easter. You can find the links to the recipes I used here for the Strawberry Cake and here for the Lemonade Cake. I made both recipes and then layered them together to get beautiful pink and yellow stripes. We also had amazing food for lunch with curried cauliflower, hash brown casserole, lamb, spinach salad, and caprese salad.

After eating way too much food it was time for the annual Egg Hunt - the Easter bunny always hides the eggs at Clare's house because he knows the kids will find them. Plus it's a good photo opportunity to get the kids all in one shot. Hope everyone had a good weekend and everyone here is looking forward to longer and warmer days to come.

Sullivan's 3rd Birthday Party

This Saturday we went to the Playstation in Cedar Rapids to celebrate Sully's third birthday. The Playstation is this huge play structure that the kids can run and climb in. It's pretty amazing. The Iowa cousins were there and some friends from Sully's school. The kids got pretty sweaty running around! Sorry for the blury photos sometimes. It was hard to slow them down. Everyone had a fun time. Only one more party to go this month...Riley's. I hope I get it all done!

We went to Jason and Brynna's house to see everyone and celebrate Jered's new job at the hospital. We all had fun getting together and Riley played so much he passed out. Maya and Max also had fun playing together. It will be nice when we can all go outside again.

On Saturday we went up to visit Brynna and Jason and Sullivan. It was neat to get the cousins together. They look very different - but have the same lips. When they are sleeping they look more alike. Max did very well being quiet and got a star wars movie to watch upstairs.
Saturday was also my 34th birthday - which I would have completely forgot if my phone hadn't reminded me at midnight when I was feeding Riley. So I bought myself some cupcakes in celebration - chocolate of course.
